Ascon Ltd were contracted by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. to complete the Civil Works associated with the construction of a new nominal 400MW gas turbine combined cycle generating plant at the Huntstown Power Station at Finglas, Dublin.
The €7.8M civil works contract included the construction of all sub-structure and foundation works for the new facility.
The construction of gas turbine and steam turbine generator foundations required that the works be completed to close tolerances in advance of the generator installation while heat recovery steam generator foundations, air cooled condenser foundations, transformer foundations, oil tanks, bunds and miscellaneous foundations for mechanical and electrical equipment are also to be constructed adjacent to the existing power station.
