2- Revenue House, Blackpool, Cork

In 2005, the OPW invited proposals for the relocation of the Revenue Commissioners from its present location on Sullivan’s Quay in Cork City to a purpose built Building within 2km of Kent Station in Cork City. BAM Property were the successful Tenderer with their Linn Dubh Development in Blackpool Village, Cork City.

Linn Dubh, a former quarry, covers 0.88 hectares and comprises 2 no. four storey Office Blocks over a double basement with 397 no. car parking spaces in the basements and on the roof. The first office block (OPW building) is required to accommodate 500 no. Revenue Employees and comprises 60% of the site with the remaining area to the second block (Spec. Building). The OPW building is c. 8000m2 and comprised of three elements formed around two courtyards, the Spec. building is c. 4000m2 and comprises a singular block adjacent to the OPW building.

This Design, Build and Finance contract requires extensive slope stabilization works. The structure is in-situ concrete frame, the facades are a combination of structural glazing, curtain walling and terracotta tiling. The internal partitions are a combination of studwork and glazed screens, the flooring is primarily raised access flooring and the ceilings are combination of slab and ceiling tiles. There are extensive mechanical and electrical systems to be incorporated into the buildings.
